Over the Hill Party Ideas
Diggin’ Up Bones
|
OVER THE HILL PARTY THEME:
Laugh and enjoy reminiscing with your friends, old and new, at your own Diggin’ Up Bones Party! The idea of this party is to involve the guests and the guest of honor by sharing fun memories they’ve had together. Your party games, food, decorations, and gifts can revolve around memory and the lack of.
Think diggin' up dirt . . . lots of dirt.
PARTY DECORATION IDEAS:
Bring in your gardening supplies! Shovels and spades, hoes and buckets… all the things you use to collect memories. Cut out paper bones from construction paper.
or string a box of Milk-Bones together. You can find them on your pet supply aisle in your grocery store, and with a permanent marker write words that best describe your Geezer.
Other great stuff for decorating . . . as the Grim Reaper begins tapping at
the door, why not decorate with classic
tombstones! There's nothing like a Tombstone
to start a hardy party! Great as a cake topper and fits beautifully along with this “diggin’ up bones” theme.
How about a
blow -up old Geezer!
A great addition to any party, but perfect for Diggin’ Up Bones! Add a paper shovel or a explorer’s hat to these geezers and you’ll be setting the stage for a terrific ‘dig.’
Roll back time with a retro autograph dog! And in the vein of memories, make a memory keepsake of this great party with the autograph dog. Our memories are slipping, put it in writing.
PARTY MUSIC IDEAS:
Party music can include favorites from the year the Geezer graced this earth with their presence.
A helpful site listed below has popular songs from each year. Just
type in the year you’re looking for in the Pop Culture Search box:
http://www.popculturemadness.com/Music/Top54-Back/
Other songs of interest may include songs from when the Geezer was a teenager… just add 15 years to your search.
OVER THE HILL GIFT SUGGESTIONS:
Unearth some laughs with the gift-filled Coffin.
Filled with all those necessities for the down-hill slide.
Help your Geezer find their lost Marbles
Another twist to this gift for this particular party, bury the marbles in some potting soil and a small flower pot. Let them dig ‘em up!
Create a memory book full of your fun memories together. Use scrap paper and pictures, fill in with commentary and
remember when’s.
You can always put these memories along with any cards in a nice empty
coffin to help them take it all home to remember.
PARTY INVITATION IDEAS:
Invitations with a “Diggin’ up Bones” theme. Ideas: Shovel/Garden Theme, Exploration Theme (hard hats and flashlights), Dinosaurs, or Sepia photograph of the Geezer. On the invitation ask guests to come participate by bringing photographs and stories ready to share about the honored Geezer.
PARTY GAME SUGGESTIONS:
Have guests write down memories before they come to the party. Mix them in a
Black Bed
Pan, (yes, I said "bed pan") and pass it around, each guest takes a memory and reads it to the group. The object is to guess who shared the memory with the Geezer.
Make the memories exaggerated to get a rile out of the Old Geezer’s ticker (if you think they can take it.) Keep memories light and fun to make this laughing party a success.
